About That Ronnie Biggs Knighthood

Rumours of a Ronnie Biggs Knighthood are gathering pace tonight following the death of the 84-year-old Great Train Robber, this morning. The infamous celebrity criminal, who absconded a 30 year prison sentence, for his part in the Crime of the Century, is just one on a list of other violent criminals set to receive a posthumous knighthood.

The Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie, along with the Moors Murderer, Ian Brady are also rumoured to be included in the 2014 New Years Honours. An anonymous source close to the Honours Selection Committee has allegedly suggested that the awards will be made for services to the main stream media.

Government Minister without Portfolio, Sir Peter Doe, Chair of the Equality For Celebrity Criminals Committee said, “…. without the decades of regular, sensationalistic portrayals of these violent criminals’ crimes and their personal lives, by the main stream media, many of the Red Tops would have gone to the wall.”

He went on to say, “Thankfully, by keeping these vile villains in the public eye and by awarding them hero status much of the main stream media, including the BBC, have managed to scale the wall instead. Just like Ronnie Biggs. And NO, before you ask, Jimmy Savile will not be in the New Years Honours list. He’s already been Knighted!”

A spokesman for the BBC has also issued a statement, denying that the soon-to-be Sir Ronnie Biggs was ‘clipped’ this morning by an elite undercover BBC Ratings Squad. The fact that a new two-part BBC drama about the Great Train Robbery was due to be screened tonight was … “pure coincidence”.

Prime Minister David Crimamong was unavailable for comment. According to a Downing Street spokesman he was “… in conference with lawyers representing Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson and could not be disturbed.”

You couldn’t make it up.

  2. Nice to see a post from you Max, and rather a surprise! Mother had Sky TV on at lunchtime, and some twat was being interviewed about Biggs’s demise. He suggested the public might regard him as a “Loveable Rogue”, but then backtracked as if realising that wasn’t the best thing to say. Are we now to going be subjected to another Mandela style round-the-clock newsfest?

    • Throughly pissed off with the coverage that ‘loveable rogue’ has been getting in the news today. Especially on the BBC. He’s a criminal for FFS! So … had a few minutes spare to bang one out to try and relieve the BP a tad. As for all that 24/7 coverage on the death of terrorist activist freedom fighter Mandela … WTAF! Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to post on that. Shame. Would have been a right old rant.

“Ooo, now Mandela is dead I don’t have anyone alive that I can instantly name as the ‘greatest person alive’. Oh, maybe it’ll be Desmond Tutu now”

I shit you not. That was an actual quote from some fuckwit on Sky News.

Is it just me or can anyone else see the irony in that statement.

      Give me fucking strength!

      • A film about Nelson Mandela is released and Mandela kicks the bucket; TV programmes on telly about the Great Train Robbery – Biggs dies. Any chance someone will commission a film or TV programme about the three most recent UK prime ministers? Just asking …

Welcome back Max. We could do with a blast of something or other for the Chrislamic Festivities :-)

  3. Welcome back to the Blogsphere Max. Many regular readers were convinced you’d done a ‘Lucan’.

It’s sad that it took a Z-list has-been to awaken you from your hibernation. But your acerbic wit has not diminished with age or lack-of-practice.

    Love the Mini advert BTW.

  4. Great news! The Max Factor is back. It adds lustre to our cluster.

It just goes to show how corrupt the system is (aided and abetted by the media). I actually started to believe your piece was true Max.

Welcome back Lord F. sorry to go against the grain but it really is a bit unfair to bracket Biggs with beasts like Brady and Saville . Robber , yes but upfront , he did what it said on the can unlike the cunting slithery thieving slime in parliment , banking and corporations whose coffee boat is bigger than Bigg’s haul.

    • I’d sooner have had a beer with Biggsy any day over murdering scum like Blair or Cameron. Biggs never did us or our country any harm.

  8. I don’t know if it’s just me but every time I hear that someone has been Knighted or made a Lord my immediate thought is “another corrupt arse-licking, dosh-bunging bastard being recognised by the corrupt system”.
So getting one of these so called “honours” is definitely a negative these days.

All those sycophantic luvies from the “entertainment” world exclaiming in mock surprise how undeserving they are while making sure everyone knows courtesy of their media agent.

AND there’s the token lollipop lady thrown in as a sop to the peasants. Can’t help thinking they’ve been honoured for their “scouting” successes for the pedophiliac elite.

    • I Fully agree. If some cunt from the Palace sidled up to me and asked me if I would accept an honour from Queenie for my humanitarian work around the world I would simply reply, “Not interested, matey. Tell that daft old crone to go fuck herself. I do not wish to be spoken of in the same breath as tools like David Beckham and Doreen Lawrence, thank you very much.”

      Welcome back, Max, btw. ;-)

  10. There has been a strain in the press romanticising Ronnie Biggs. Perhaps the passing of time has added the ‘lovable rogue’ patina on the cunt. Whichever way you look at it he was a criminal. Just because 50 years have lapsed doesn’t change that. And let’s not forget Jack Mills who was 57 at the time when he was savagely beaten about the head with an iron bar by one of Bigsy’s crew. This was gratuitous violence on an unarmed man. The train employees were outnumbered and out classed by the robbers; all they could do was comply. They never could charge this ‘man’, through lack of evidence, although his identity was never in doubt amongst the criminal fraternity and the police. John Mills never really recovered from his beating. So before anyone starts idolising Ronnie and any of his associates we would be well advised to give a thought for Jack Mills.

    • Yes, but it wasn’t Biggsy’s caper, Mr. Saxon. Biggsy was just a backup getaway driver, he was nowhere near when the driver got twatted. The robbery was headed up by some cunt called Bruce Reynolds so blame him if you must – but it really doesn’t achieve anything 50 years on. ;-)

      • Fair enough Mr E, but Bigsy, was nothing more than a petty crim who got lucky on more than one occasion.
